If you want to pursue archery further, then take part in a beginner's course. Here you will learn all about the sport and meet others who are just starting out. Chiltern Archery runs courses throughout the year in each of our shops.

You can then join a local club or visit an archery retailer and try out the different bows to see which one you prefer. Archery retailers, such as Chiltern Archery, have shooting ranges and will allow you to try bows before you buy.

Types of bow
You will probably have noticed that there are different kinds of bows - from the tradtional longbow as shot by Robin Hood to the more modern bows with stabilsers and sights as used by olympic competitors.

If you are just starting out, then the fibreglass leisure bows or the S1/S2 take-down bows are probably a good starting point.
